Child Support Guidelines Calculator – This calculator is for informational purposes only and is not an official determination of child support in your case. However, if you input both parents’ gross incomes correctly and know the percentage of parenting time each parent will have, this calculator can give you a quick, rough estimate of how much child support will be ordered in your proceeding.

New Jersey Child Support – This DHS website offers a comprehensive look at child support issues for both custodial and non-custodial parents. Apply for support here or make payments online, and find answers to all your questions regarding child support orders, establishing paternity, terminating child support, and more. You can also call the New Jersey Child Support hotline at 877-NJKiDS-1 (877-655-4371).

Office of Child Support Enforcement – This federal agency website can help you find a child support agency near you if you need to apply for support or discuss your case.

Health Insurance – What happens to health insurance coverage for you and your kids when your health insurance was through your spouse’s employment, now that you are getting divorced? This US Department of Labor website can help answer some of those questions.

QDROs – A New Jersey family court judge might divide up a spouse’s pension as part of the distribution of marital property in a divorce. To do this could require getting a Qualified Domestic Relations Order, or QDRO. This link gives you a comprehensive overview of QDROs, or click here for more information.

National Domestic Violence Hotline – Visit this website for information about domestic violence and abuse, or call 1-800-799-SAFE for more direct assistance. This hotline is monitored year-round. Whether calling or going online, do so from a safe space, such as a public library. You can also call the New Jersey Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-572-SAFE (7233) 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

Domestic Violence: The Law and You – This guide from the New Jersey State Bar Foundation gives you an overview of New Jersey domestic violence law and the role of the police and the courts. This pamphlet also contains helpful phone numbers and a list of domestic violence services by county.
